RadicalxChange Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by economist E. Glen Weyl in 2018, growing out of the ideas in his book Radical Markets. The foundation develops and promotes novel democratic mechanisms including Plural Voting (quadratic voting), Plural Funding (quadratic funding), Plural Ownership, and Plural Money. It operates through research, open-source tool development, real-world partnerships with governments and institutions, and community building across a global network of chapters. RxC connects social scientists, technologists, artists, and activists to reimagine governance, markets, data economies, and identity systems for greater plurality, equality, and decentralization.

Theory of Change
RadicalxChange believes that existing democratic and market institutions are inadequate for governing complex modern challenges, including powerful technologies like AI. Their theory of change is that by developing and deploying novel collective decision-making mechanisms such as quadratic voting and quadratic funding, societies can make more representative and nuanced decisions that reflect the true breadth and intensity of public preferences. By creating open-source tools, running real-world experiments with governments and institutions, and building a global community of practitioners, RxC aims to demonstrate that better institutional design can lead to more equitable technology governance, more democratic resource allocation, and stronger collective agency in the face of rapid technological change. While not directly focused on AI safety or existential risk, their work on plural technology and democratic innovation addresses the governance infrastructure needed to ensure powerful technologies serve broad public interests rather than concentrated ones.
