AI Timeline is an open-source project created by James Campbell, a researcher affiliated with Carnegie Mellon University and later OpenAI. Launched in September 2024, it provides an interactive visualization of key AI milestones filterable by category: Model Releases, Culture & Society, Business & Industry, Research & Papers, and Policy & Regulation. The project was community-contributed and released under the MIT license, but is no longer actively maintained.
