Future of Humanity Foundation
The Future of Humanity Foundation (FHF) was a UK-registered educational charity (charity number 1192484) incorporated in March 2020 to support the charitable work of the Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) at the University of Oxford. FHF was created as an external vehicle to hire or contract potential collaborators, researchers, and research support staff; provide operational support for research activities; and disburse grants to support FHI's research. The foundation was governed by a board of five directors including Nick Bostrom, Nicholas Beckstead, Malo Bourgon, Tanya Singh, and Jaan Tallinn. It was dissolved via compulsory strike-off on 28 May 2024, roughly six weeks after FHI was closed by the University of Oxford.

Theory of Change
FHF's theory of change was indirect: by providing an external organizational vehicle outside the University of Oxford's bureaucratic constraints, it aimed to enable FHI researchers to hire collaborators, secure operational support, and disburse grants more efficiently than was possible through university channels. This was intended to accelerate FHI's research on existential risk, AI safety, and other global catastrophic risks, which in turn aimed to reduce the probability and severity of catastrophic outcomes for humanity.
