Theory of Change

ALLFED's theory of change centers on the observation that global catastrophes could deplete food production far more than is commonly prepared for, and that the resulting famine could kill more people than the initial catastrophe itself. By researching and developing resilient food solutions -- foods that can be produced without sunlight or conventional industrial infrastructure -- ALLFED aims to ensure that practical, scalable, and affordable alternatives are ready to deploy before a catastrophe strikes. Through policy engagement with governments and international institutions, ALLFED works to embed food resilience into national and regional preparedness plans, so that when a catastrophe occurs, the response can be rapid, equitable, and effective. The causal chain runs from research (identifying which resilient foods are most nutritious, cost-effective, and scalable) to preparedness (pilot projects, government plans, and institutional investments) to impact (reduced mortality from famine during and after global catastrophes).
