Theory of Change
Catherine Brewer's theory of change centers on improving the AI safety field's capacity and funding allocation. By working as a grantmaker on AI governance and policy, she aims to identify neglected research areas, fund high-impact work, and help coordinate efforts across the field. Her earlier work building AI safety communities at Oxford reflects a belief that increasing the number of talented people working on AI safety is a high-leverage intervention. She is also focused on improving AI capability evaluations, which she sees as foundational for making informed decisions about AI deployment and policy.
