Stephen Grugett
Bio
Stephen Grugett is the co-founder and CEO of Manifold Markets, the world's largest play-money prediction market platform, which he founded in December 2021 alongside his brother James Grugett and Austin Chen. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Yale University (2009-2013), where he was part of the class following his high school valedictorian role at Marist School in Atlanta. Before Manifold, Stephen worked as a Technology Associate at Susquehanna International Group and founded several startups including Rareroot (an online ginseng marketplace) and Throne. Manifold Markets received a $200,000 grant from the Long-Term Future Fund in 2022 to build out its forecasting platform, situating it within the effective altruism and rationalist communities that value prediction markets as epistemic infrastructure. In early 2026, Stephen co-founded MNX, a decentralized futures exchange focused on trading across the AI value stack. He is based in San Francisco, California.
