Org Details
Updated 05/18/26AI Digest is a project of Sage Future, Inc. (sage-future.org), a US-registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Sage was founded in late 2022 by Adam Binksmith (formerly Adam Binks), who holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of St Andrews. AI Digest launched in October 2023 as Sage's flagship initiative for helping people viscerally understand the current state and trajectory of AI systems. The core team includes Director Adam Binksmith, and Members of Technical Staff Zak Miller and Shoshannah Tekofsky. The broader Sage organization also includes Simon Steshin on the Epistemics team. Founding advisors include Eli Lifland, Aaron Ho, and Misha Yagudin, with Daniel Kokotajlo serving as an advisor on the AI Village project. AI Digest's primary programs include: the AI Village, an ongoing livestreamed experiment in which four frontier AI agents (including models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google) are given a computer, a group chat, and open-ended real-world goals; Beyond Chat, a demo illustrating AI agent email and shopping capabilities; AI Can or Can't, a quiz on current AI abilities; and an Elections Demo exploring AI's potential for election interference. The site also publishes written explainers on AI forecasting, self-awareness, and capability progress. Funding for AI Digest / Sage Future has included a $550,000 grant from Open Philanthropy (Coefficient Giving) for AI explainers work, general support grants from the Survival and Flourishing Fund (including a $170,000 SFF-2025 grant and earlier speculation grants of $10,000 and $20,000), a $100,000 donation from Daniel Kokotajlo to support AI Village expansion, and contributions from individual donors. As of May 2025, the organization had runway through approximately February 2026 and was actively fundraising to cover 2025-2026 operations. Sage Future is a remote organization registered in the United States.
Theory of Change
Updated 05/18/26AI Digest believes that abstract descriptions and benchmarks are insufficient for decision-makers to truly understand what AI systems can and cannot do. By providing direct, hands-on interaction with AI systems through demos and explainers, they aim to build accurate mental models among policymakers, researchers, and the public. Better-informed stakeholders are more likely to make good decisions about AI governance, safety investments, and risk mitigation — thereby reducing the probability of catastrophic outcomes from advanced AI. Their focus on capabilities most relevant to AI R&D speedup, agency, and deception is specifically chosen to prioritize understanding of the risks most central to long-term AI safety.

Updated 05/18/26Web-based quiz that challenges users to guess whether today’s best general-purpose AI models can or can’t perform specific tasks across multiple themed challenges such as situational awareness and website creation.
Live experiment where four AI agents are given their own computers, a shared group chat, and the goal of raising money for charity while running for hours each day under human observation.
Interactive demo where viewers watch an AI agent operate a computer to send emails and shop online in real time, illustrating agentic use of current language models beyond chat interfaces.
