Lethal Intelligence believes that a major barrier to addressing AI existential risk is lack of general public awareness. By producing engaging, accessible explainer content — films, podcasts, social media posts, and curated resources — the project aims to make AI existential risk "dinner-table conversation." Greater public awareness is expected to generate political will and social pressure for AI safety regulation and corporate accountability, thereby reducing the probability of catastrophic outcomes from uncontrolled AGI or ASI systems.
