Evitable, founded by AI professor David Krueger in November 2025, works to expose the dangers of advanced AI development and mobilize public action to stop it. The organization's core message is that racing toward superintelligence is not inevitable — it is a political choice that can be reversed. Evitable combines high-profile media engagement, evidence-based communication, and public outreach to shift the narrative and demonstrate that people retain the power to demand policy changes that halt dangerous AI development.

Theory of Change
Evitable's theory of change holds that the development of superintelligent AI relies on concentrated private investment and active government support, and that this support is vulnerable to political pressure. By educating the public about the severity and imminence of societal-scale AI risks — and demonstrating that most people already oppose unchecked superintelligence development — Evitable aims to convert latent public concern into organized political action. That political pressure would then be directed at policymakers to reduce advanced AI chip production, withdraw government support for frontier AI labs, and impose other infrastructure-level constraints. The causal chain is: informed public awareness + demonstrated political agency → government policy intervention → reduced resources available for dangerous AI development → slower or halted race to superintelligence.
