Org Details
Updated 04/02/26Harmony Intelligence is an AI safety research and engineering company co-founded by Soroush Pour (CEO) and Alex Browne (CTO). Its mission is to ensure humanity flourishes as ever more advanced AI systems are developed. The company operates at the intersection of AI safety research and practical cybersecurity, building both evaluations infrastructure and defensive AI products. Soroush Pour previously established the cybersecurity team at fintech unicorn Plaid and served as Head of Technology at biotech startup Vow. Alex Browne was an early engineer at Plaid, 0x, and Kraken, with deep expertise in security-critical systems. The broader team includes alumni of Plaid, Vow, 0x, Culture Amp, Duke University, and the ML Alignment Theory Scholars (MATS) program. On the AI safety side, Harmony conducts catastrophic risk evaluations and red teaming of frontier models, measuring dangerous capabilities in domains such as cybersecurity, biosecurity, persuasion and manipulation, and AI self-exfiltration. They have supported the International Network of AI Safety Institutes with cybersecurity capability testing, published three peer-reviewed AI safety papers (cited nine times in the 2025 International AI Safety Report), and provided testimony to the Australian Senate on AI risks. They also received a grant from Open Philanthropy to develop a publicly available benchmark on the autonomous moneymaking capabilities of large language model agents. On the commercial side, Harmony builds AI-powered application security audit tools that combine frontier LLM capabilities with human cybersecurity experts to continuously probe web applications and APIs for vulnerabilities. In March 2025, the company raised a USD $3 million seed round led by AirTree Ventures, with participation from First Row Partners, Maxwell Capital, Eric Ries (CEO of Adept AI), former Plaid CTO, Canva's Head of Global AI Policy, and over 30 strategic investors. Harmony is a remote-first company with team members primarily in Sydney, Australia and San Francisco, USA.
Theory of Change
Updated 04/02/26Harmony Intelligence believes that catastrophic AI risk can be reduced by rigorously measuring and exposing dangerous AI capabilities before they are exploited. By conducting capability evaluations and red teaming of frontier models across high-stakes domains (cybersecurity, biosecurity, persuasion, self-exfiltration), they provide empirical evidence of which AI systems pose genuine risks, informing AI lab safety decisions, government policy, and international governance efforts. On the defensive side, by building AI-powered cybersecurity products that match the speed and sophistication of AI-enabled attackers, they reduce the attack surface that malicious actors could exploit through advanced AI systems. Together, these activities aim to ensure that dangerous AI capabilities are identified, disclosed, and defended against before they cause irreversible harm.
