Dhruvin Patel
Bio
Dhruvin Patel is an early-career policy researcher and scientist based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, where he worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, contributing to structural biology research on bacterial pathogens including Legionella pneumophila and Borrelia garinii. He transitioned toward global catastrophic risk work and effective altruism-aligned careers, receiving coaching from 80,000 Hours and a travel grant from the Long-Term Future Fund to attend a workshop on biosecurity and AI safety. He subsequently joined the Tech Governance Project as a part-time researcher and content developer, contributing to the organization's work on emerging technology governance in Africa with a focus on AI and biosecurity. His EA Forum activity reflects interests in life sciences approaches to global catastrophic biological risks and pandemic preparedness cost-effectiveness.
