Updated 03/22/26Jeffrey W. Ohl is a PhD student in economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he researches tax policy, environmental regulation, and political economy. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and previously worked as an analyst at a major US bank. Before starting his PhD, he received a grant from the Long-Term Future Fund to take a Harvard economics course in Fall 2022 to strengthen his graduate school application. He has been involved in the effective altruism community and has written on EA Forum about international cooperation as a strategy for reducing existential risks from AI and engineered pandemics.
