Gerold Csendes
Bio
Gerold Csendes is an AI Engineer at Turbine Ltd., a Budapest, Hungary-based startup that applies deep-learning cell simulations to cancer research and drug discovery. His research interests span AI, computational biology, AI safety, and cancer research. He co-authored the 2025 paper "Benchmarking foundation cell models for post-perturbation RNA-seq prediction" (BMC Genomics), evaluating whether foundation models outperform simpler baselines for predicting cellular responses to perturbations. He has received funding to support his transition from AI capabilities work into AI safety research.
