Nick Whitaker
Bio
Nick Whitaker is a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, where he analyzes emerging technology policy with a focus on artificial intelligence. He is a co-founder and editor of Works in Progress, a magazine of new and underrated ideas in science, technology, and economics that became a Stripe grantee in 2022 after receiving Emergent Ventures funding. He graduated from Brown University with honors in philosophy, specializing in logic and language. Previously, he was a Technology and Security Policy Fellow at RAND Corporation and a summer fellow at the Hudson Institute. Whitaker writes the High Modernism Substack on grand schemes to improve the human condition, and received a Long-Term Future Fund grant for blogging and movement building at the intersection of EA/longtermism and progress studies. He has also served as Associate Editor at Athwart and published AI policy work including a 2024 Manhattan Institute report on principles for AI governance.
