Logan Strohl
Bio
Logan Strohl (formerly Brienne Yudkowsky) is an independent rationality researcher and writer based in the Sierra foothills of California. They are the developer of "naturalism," a methodology for advancing the art of rationality through patient and direct observation, described as an approach more akin to studying botany than attending a coding bootcamp. Logan was previously a Research & Instructor at the Center for Applied Rationality (CFAR), where they worked on original curriculum and instructor training. Their work focuses on improving epistemic practices by refining the very concepts that beliefs are made of, rather than merely correcting individual beliefs. They have published an extensive "Intro to Naturalism" sequence on LessWrong, run nature study courses, and maintained the blog Agenty Duck. Logan has received multiple grants from the Long-Term Future Fund totaling $240,000 to develop and share their investigative rationality methods.
