The Nonlinear Library
About
Updated 05/18/26Launched by Nonlinear in 2021, The Nonlinear Library aims to make it easy to consume longform Effective Altruism and rationalist content in audio form. The project uses text-to-speech software to turn posts from the EA Forum, Alignment Forum, LessWrong, and other EA blogs into podcast episodes and automatically publishes them to feeds on major podcast platforms. The launch post explains that the goal is to increase the total amount of EA research actually read or heard by the community by reducing the friction of engaging with written reports, allowing people to listen while commuting, exercising, or doing chores.
Theory of Change
The Nonlinear Library’s theory of change is to increase the impact of EA and alignment research by increasing how many people actually consume it. By turning written forum posts and reports into an automatically updating audio library that can be listened to during otherwise idle time, the project aims to boost total engagement with existing research, thereby helping more practitioners and decision-makers learn from it and make better-informed choices.
